Crystal Waters is the pioneer project of large-scale permaculture in the world. In 2018, the community celebrated its 30th anniversary of recognition by the Australian government.

The 200 members have managed to create in 30 years a real island of almost self-sufficient prosperity of more than 200 hectares, while collaborating with their bio-region in Australia.
In 1996, Crystal Waters won the United Nations Program for Human Settlements award
