From dream to reality: Gyűrűfű, the first ecovillage in Hungary
Founded more than 20 years ago, Gyűrűfű is an ecovillage that was created by a group of young Hungarian ecologists who dreamed of having a large plot of land protected by permaculture.
Now owners of more than 1,100 hectares of land, the community of Gyűrűfű houses more than 10 families, equating to about 30 members, all united by their will to live a simpler life in a natural setting.
Surrounded by gigantic and protected green spaces, Gyűrűfű is developing educational activities about the environment, in addition to apprenticeships through which one can learn about many different subjects, from green technologies to horse riding.
The hostel Lovastanya Vendégház welcomes visitors there.
