Merope, a space for eco-nomads located near a lake in Bulgaria
Based in the north of Bulgaria at the border with Romania and Serbia, Merope can be referred to as an organisation, a place, and even a concept.
Since 2014, the project has welcomed many volunteers and nomads to reside amongst their life said to be led by three main resounding principles: sustainability, equality and creativity.
Created by 29-year-old Belgium Annelies, Merope has been attracting visitors from all over the world ever since. The organisation offers a safe space for people to experiment with living life in a community and with permaculture but is also used for personal development, as well as groups retreats including guided meditation.
Inspired by a life experience in which she was alone in a forest for several months, Annelise hopes to be able to share what she felt during this time, which she says was a new form of freedom and creativity which, bit by bit, has helped her to detach from all superficial material.
Merope is one of the rare communities where LGBTQI people are truely integrated.
