Zajezka in Slovakia : from rainbow to entrepreneurship through EVS, the European Voluntary Service

Zajezka is a 80-hectar eco-village situated near the Tatras mountains in northern Slovakia. More than 120 people seeking a life in harmony with nature are living there all the year.

For more than 30 years, many activities and organisation have emerge : a cultural and ecological formations center, an educative farm for young people, an alternative school and a nursery, a retreat center in the forest, festivals…

But also companies of honey sales, eco-constructions, vegetables and other biological products.

Focus on EVS, the European Volontary Service

EVS is a program increasingly used by eco-villages. It allows young people from 18 to 30 years living in Europe to be feed, housed, defrayed the transport cost, for a learning experience from 3 months to one years in eco-villages.

In Zajezka, the duration of the program is 8 months, from march to november, every year.

The volunteer, coming from all over the world, pass most of their time at Sekier.

It’s an ancient property in forest made from old farms, plants gardens, vegetables and fruits and a dance floor in construction.

Many parallel activities at volunteering are proposed, like language lessons, yoga, a permaculture certification, sport, and music lessons !
